On February 22, 2023, the project of LIMU graduate student Shamil Asfandiyarov "Development and research of a multi-element spiral focusing array for creating high-intensity ultrasound beams in the air" was submitted for funding under the program "Young Scientists 2.0" of the project "Synthesis" of the Gennady Komissarov Foundation for the Support of Young Scientists. LIMU participation in the XXXV session of the Russian Acoustics Society
On February 13-17, a LIMU team took part in the XXXV session of the Russian Acoustics Society. A total of 18 papers were presented by LIMU in the sections "Nonlinear Acoustics", "Ultrasonic Technologies", "Bioacoustics and Medical Applications of Acoustic Methods" and "Physical Acoustics". All of our undergraduate and graduate students were awarded diplomas for the best young professional paper!
Alisa Krokhmal received a Ph.D. degree
On 28th of December 2022, a PhD student Alisa Krokhmal has successfully defended her PhD thesis "Positioning objects using acoustic radiation force in biofacturing problems" at the R.V. Khokhlov central auditorium. The PhD thesis was carried out under the supervision of Professor Oleg Sapozhnikov. Congratulations to Alisa and her supervisor!

Maria Karzova gave a lecture to the students of the school AESC MSU
On 22nd of November 2022, a meeting of senior researcher Maria Karzova with 11th grade students took place at the Kolmogorov boarding school AESC MSU. Maria Karzova gave a lecture about physical methods in medicine, the prospects of ultrasound surgery in the future, and the possibilities of scientific work at the LIMU laboratory.
The LIMU team has published a paper on histotripsy liquefaction of ex vivo human prostate tissue in atop-rated journal Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (Q1)
A paper titled «Initial assessment of boiling histotripsy for mechanical ablation of ex vivo human prostate
tissue» has been published in top-rated journal Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (Q1, IF 3.694). The
study came as a result of joint efforts of a multidisciplinary team, which included LIMU fellows
(Khokhlova V.A., Rosnitskiy P.B., Tsysar S.A., Ponomarchuk E.M., Sapozhnikov O.A., and Karzova
M.M.), physicists, and medical doctors from different institutions. The co-authors were affiliated with the
Faculty of fundamental medicine of MSU, Medical Research and Educational Center of MSU, the
Research Institute of Human Morphology, and the University of Washington.

From June 5 to June 10, 2022, the Physical Acoustics Summer School (PASS 2022) took place in Oxford, Mississippi, organized by the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) together with the University of Mississippi. LIMU graduate student, Ekaterina Ponomarchuk, attended the School with the support of the “BASIS” foundation travel grant.
