LIMU at the International Youth Science Forum “Lomonosov-2026”

From April 10 to 25, 2026, Lomonosov Moscow State University hosted the International Scientific Conference of Students, Postgraduates, and Young Scientists “Lomonosov-2026”. Our 2nd–4th year students presented their results within the subsections “Acoustics” and “Medical Physics”. The reports covered cutting-edge research directions in ultrasound applications in industry and medicine, from experimental studies of ultrasound transducers to non‑invasive mechanical fractionation of various tumors ex vivo using boiling histotripsy.

Our students demonstrated a high level of competence and made a strong impression on the competition committee:

Natela Gogmachadze (3rd year) presented her results of the experimental study on the directivity patterns of airborne ultrasound transducers in the 25–40 kHz frequency range for the design of multi‑element focusing systems (supervised by Oleg A. Sapozhnikov).

Anna Petrova (3rd year) shared her results on the incisionless mechanical fractionation of uterine fibroids ex vivo using high‑intensity focused ultrasound pulses (supervised by Ekaterina M. Ponomarchuk).

Mikhail Tarakanov (4th year) presented a study on the electrical matching of ultrasound transducers (supervised by Oleg A. Sapozhnikov).

• Elizaveta Anastasina (2nd year) reported on the influence of the properties of different types of breast cancer ex vivo on the degree of their mechanical fractionation using boiling histotripsy (supervised by Ekaterina M. Ponomarchuk).

• Ilya Savin (2nd year) reported on the first experimental ex vivo study on mechanical fractionation of nodular colloid goiter using boiling histotripsy (supervised by Ekaterina M. Ponomarchuk).

The talks by Natela, Anna, and Elizaveta were recognized as the best in their subsections!

Поздравляем наших исследователей и их руководителей и желаем дальнейших успехов в научной деятельности!
