The co-head of the LIMU laboratory, Vera A. Khokhlova, has been honored with the prestigious William and Francis Fry Honorary Fellowship (The Fry Award). This is the highest lifetime achievement award given annually by the International Society for Therapeutic Ultrasound (ISTU) to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to therapeutic ultrasound.
The award ceremony took place during the 25th Annual International Symposium on Therapeutic Ultrasound (ISTU 2026) in Trondheim, Norway. At the Symposium, Professor Khokhlova also delivered a keynote lecture titled “Nonlinear Acoustics in Therapeutic Ultrasound“.
Founded in 2001, the International Society for Therapeutic Ultrasound (ISTU) is the leading global community bringing together experts in the medical applications of ultrasound technologies for non-invasive therapy and surgery. Its membership includes hundreds of scientists, engineers, and clinicians from dozens of countries across Europe, the Americas, and Asia. The Society organizes annual international symposia worldwide and hosts monthly educational webinars (ISTU On-Air), where leading global experts cover a broad spectrum of topics ranging from the fundamental physics of ultrasound to the commercialization of medical devices. ISTU actively supports global scientific collaboration to accelerate the translation of non-invasive therapeutic ultrasound approaches into clinical practice.
