LIMU at the Scientific Council meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences

On December 17, 2025, the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) held a meeting of the Scientific Council “Biomedical Physics and Engineering” dedicated to the development of technologies using high-intensity focused ultrasound in therapy and non-invasive surgery. LIMU research fellows gave talks on the current state of the area and their own experience in the field.

Oleg A. Sapozhnikov presented an overview of the physical mechanisms underlying the use of focused ultrasound in medical technologies.

Vera A. Khokhlova discussed the latest trends in therapeutic and surgical applications of high-intensity focused ultrasound.

Pavel B. Rosnitsky presented our patented developments on mosaic arrays for ultrasound surgery.

Ekaterina M. Ponomarchuk shared the latest research results on a novel histotripsy method for incisionless mechanical fractionation of various pathological tissues.

The presentations were followed by fruitful discussions among scientists, physicians, and company representatives led by RAS Vice President academician Vladislav Y. Panchenko and Deputy Chairman of the Council, academician and surgeon Igor V. Reshetov.
