Research projects of LIMU students and PhD students have been supported by the “BASIS” Foundation scholarships

The “BASIS” foundation, established in 2016 to support fundamental physics and mathematics in Russia, annually holds a scholarship competition for undergraduate, MSc and PhD students of the Physics Faculty.

This year, among the competition winners were our 4th year Specialist program students Maria Sergeeva and Stepan Sorokin, as well as a 2nd year MSc student Fedor Nartov and a PhD student Polina Pestova. The foundation Expert Council supported the students’ research projects in their scientific fields: Maria is engaged in numerical modeling of parametric generation of low-frequency sound waves, Stepan conducts research in the field of ultrasound diagnostics of lung diseases, Fedor is engaged in modeling the operation of specialized transducers to increase the effiency of chemotherapy, and Polina conducts research in the field of thermal ablation of tissues using high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU).

Congratulations to our young scientists and best wishes in their future studies!
