LIMU student Alexey Mokhnachev has won the coursework competition among the 2nd year students of the Physics Faculty of MSU

From April 28 to May 16, 2025, the Physics Faculty held a coursework competition for the 2nd year students. Our student Alexey Mokhnachev participated in the competition with his coursework supervised by LIMU fellow Sergey A. Tsysar and titled “Fields of multielement ultrasonic transducers for particle manipulation”. The work included numerical modeling of the fields produced by an acoustic levitator with varied scatterers inside the field using K-Wave toolbox for MATLAB. As a result of the modeling, it was possible to define the capture regions, which were further experimentally confirmed by assembling the acoustic levitator.

Alexey’s work confidently passed all three steps of the competition. Following the local defense of the coursework at the department, Alexey became one of 50 finalists, presenting their works at the mini-conference. The jury members highly appreciated the work and selected Alexey as one of the 3 winners of the competition. The award ceremony was held on May 29, 2025, at the Academic Council of the Physics Faculty.
