LIMU PhD student Fedor Nartov wins a coursework competition on neural networks

Every year, the MSU.AI team holds a course titled “Neural Networks and Their Application in Scientific Research” at the MSU Physics Department for senior students, PhD students, and research fellow of the Lomonosov MSU. During the course, students attend over ten lectures and practical classes. In the second stage of the course, they apply the skills they had acquired to solve real scientific problems.

The final stage of the course was a competition held from June 9 to 11, 2025, where the students presented the results of their research conducted using artificial intelligence. In the “Biology, Chemistry, Medicine” section, our graduate student Fedor Nartov presented his project “Binary Segmentation of Ultrasound Images Using Neural Networks to Compensate for Aberrations in HIFU Therapy.”

The projects were evaluated by an expert committee of the course based on a set of criteria, including potential to be published in high-ranking journals and reproducibility of the results. Based on the results of the competition, Fedor was among the winners and received a personal grant from the Intellect Foundation in the amount of 100,000 rubles.

We congratulate Fedor on his victory in the competition and wish him further scientific success!
