LIMU alumni Shamil Asfandiyarov successfully defended his PhD thesis
On June 10th, 2025, at the Physics Faculty, MSU, a LIMU alumni Shamil Asfandiyarov successfully defended his PhD dissertation “The use of 2D phased arrays for ultrasonic imaging and physical impact on objects in heterogeneous medium”.
The work in the field of acoustics, non-destructive analysis and physics of nonlinear waves was carried out under the supervision of Oleg A. Sapozhnikov, D.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics.
Two opponents of the dissertation spoke in person at the defense:
- D.Sc. Andrey N. Rybyanets (Southern Federal University, Rostov-on-Don)
- D.Sc. Egor S. Morokov (N.M. Emanuel Institute of Biochemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow).
The third opponent of the dissertation, D.Sc. Aleksandr A. Karabutov (A.M. Prokhorov General Physics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow) participated online.
As a result of the defense, Shamil was awarded a Ph.D. degree in Physics and Mathematics in the specialty 1.3.7 “Acoustics”!
The details of the work can be found in the dissertation abstract and the dissertation text.
Congratulations to Shamil and his supervisor on the successful defense!
