LIMU at the Scientific Council meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences

On December 17, 2025, LIMU representatives Oleg A. Sapozhnikov, Vera A. Khokhlova, Pavel B. Rosnitsky, and Ekaterina M. Ponomarchuk spoke at the meeting of Scientific Council "Biomedical Physics and Engineering" at the Russian Academy of Sciences, dedicated to the development of technologies using high-intensity focused ultrasound in therapy and non-invasive surgery.

LIMU at the science forum “RadMed-2025”

On December 9–10, 2025, the II International Youth Science Forum "RadMed-2025" was held at Moscow State University. Our research fellow, Ekaterina Ponomarchuk, participated as an invited speaker with an overview talk on "Incisionless fractionation of soft tissues using pulsed high-intensity focused ultrasound".

Our first experiments on incisionless mechanical fractionation of human leiomyosarcoma have been published in the Q1-journal Ultrasonics

A top-rated journal Ultrasonics (Q1, IF 4.1) has published our paper titled "Non-thermal ultrasound-guided fractionation of human leiomyosarcoma with boiling histotripsy: an ex vivo feasibility study" on our pilot results of mechanical fractionation of human leiomyosarcoma with pulsed high-intensity focused ultrasound using boiling histotripsy. The study was performed in collaboration with the MSU University Clinic, Pulmonology Research Institute, and the Human Morphology Research Institute.

The Q1 journal Ultrasonics published an article with the results of our research in the field of transcranial therapeutic ultrasound

The high-ranking journal Ultrasonics (Q1, IF 4.1) published our paper on the study of the effect of alendronate therapy on skull density, structure, and the efficacy of focused ultrasound brain therapy. The research was conducted by LIMU research fellows, Alisa Krokhmal and Vera Khokhlova, along with PhD student Daria Chupova, in collaboration with the V.S. Buzaev International Medical Center.

LIMU at the “Medical Neurotechnologies” LiFT-2025 Young Scientists School

On April 17-18 2025, the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University hosted the "Medical Neurotechnologies" LiFT-2025 Young Scientists School, where LIMU research fellow Alisa Krokhmal presented the results of a joint study by LIMU and the V.S. Buzaev International Medical Center. The study introduces a new method to improve skull ultrasound conductivity using bisphosphonate therapy, enabling successful thermal ablation procedures even with initially low skull density ratio (SDR) values.
