The bank of LIMU's achievements is growing. According to the results of the grants competition for MS and PhD programs, Fedor Nartov, Lyubov Kotelnikova and Daria Chupova became the winners. Oleg Solotsov and Fedor Nartov received FUSF grants for scientific research during the summer. Elena Konnova and Lyubov Kotelnikova were awarded an advanced academic scholarship.
LIMU research on the use of shock-waves HIFU irradiation modes was supported by a grant from the Russian Science Foundation
Scientific project of LIMU research fellow Maria Karzova «The use of shock-waves to accelerate volumetric thermal ablation of biological tissues by high-intensity focused ultrasound» is supported by a grant from the Russian Science Foundation. Congratulations to Maria!
LIMU team’s achievements in the application of neural networks in modern medical research
LIMU PhD students Krokhmal Alisa and Tyurina Anastasia successfully finished the course “Neural networks and their application in scientific research” based on the Physics Faculty, MSU. They were also awarded for the best scientific publication and course work.
Lyubov Kotelnikova and Maria Sergeeva are the laureates of student competitions
In June 2022, the competition of scientific student works for graduates named after R.V. Khokhlov and the competition of papers for 2nd year students was held. As a result, the master's thesis of Lyuba Kotelnikova and the paper of Maria Sergeeva were among the winners.

On the 21st of June, a solemn ceremony of awarding diplomas to graduates of the Faculty of Physics took place at the Moscow State University (MSU). All our graduates of the master's program-2022 Elena Konnova, Lyubov Kotelnikova, Polina Pestova, and Daria Chupova were awarded diplomas with honors by the rector of MSU. Fedor Nartov and Oleg Solontsov successfully completed the undergraduate program and got bachelor's degree. Congratulations to LIMU graduates on their diplomas!
LIMU participation in international conference ISTU-2022
From 7th to 10th of June, the 21st International Symposium on Therapeutic Ultrasound ISTU 2022 was held in a hybrid format, in-person part taking place in Toronto, Canada. Laboratory LIMU was represented by junior researcher Pavel Rosnitskiy, PhD student Alisa Krokhmal and Bachelor's degree graduates Kseniia Tumanova and Azamat Kaloev.
LIMU participated in Russian school-seminar “Waves-2022”
From 5th to 10th of June 2022, the LIMU team participated in the XXXIII All-Russian School-seminar "Wave Phenomena: Physics and Applications" named after Professor A.P. Sukhorukov (“Waves-2022”), held in a hybrid in-person/virtual format in the resort of MSU "Krasnovidovo". LIMU presented 7 reports in the sections "Acoustics of inhomogeneous media" and "Bio- and medical applications of wave physics". Two of our participants were awarded certificates for the best report!
LIMU at the Lomonosov week
LIMU members, PhD students and students took part at the two events which were held from April 18 to April 22 at Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov. Within the framework of the scientific conference of students, graduate students and young scientists "Lomonosov 2022", 6 students of LIMU presented their works, and graduate student E.M. Ponomarchuk and junior researcher P.B. Rosnitsky made presentations at the scientific conference "Lomonosov Readings - 2022".
LIMU participation in the XXXIV session of the Russian Acoustical Society
From February 14 to 18, the LIMU team took an active part in the XXXIV session of the Russian Acoustical Society held in a hybrid in-person/virtual format at the N.N. Andreyev Acoustics Institute (Moscow, Russia). Overall, LIMU presented 17 talks in the sections devoted to "Nonlinear acoustics", "Ultrasonic technologies", "Bioacoustics and medical applications of acoustical methods" and "Physical acoustics". Most of our students and postgraduates were awarded diplomas for the best reports of young specialists!
Dmitry Nikolaev received a Ph.D. degree
Ph.D. student of LIMU Dmitry Nikolaev has successfully defended his PhD thesis on December 30, 2021. The thesis was prepared under supervision of Dr. Sergey Tsysar. Congratulations to Dr. Nikolaev!
A new method of measuring the acoustic characteristics of materials proposed by the laboratory grouphas been published in The Journal of the Acoustic Society of America.
The top-rated journal The Journal of the Acoustic Society of America (Q1) published an article
presenting a new method for measuring the acoustic characteristics of materials at megahertz
frequencies, as well as its experimental verification. The proposed method is based on the use of
transient acoustic holography technique.
Our paper on histotripsy liquefaction of human hematomas was published in Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology journal (Q1)
Results of a joint study of LIMU, MREC MSU and Dmitry Rogachev National Research Center were published in a top-rated Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology journal. The study was devoted to non-invasive liquefaction of volumetric human hematomas using focused ultrasound pulses with shock fronts.
