LIMU at the International Symposium on Nonlinear Acoustics ISNA-2025

From June 30 to July 4, 2025, LIMU traditionally attended the International Symposium on Nonlinear Acoustics (ISNA) held in Nanjing, China. Oleg A. Sapozhnikov was a member of the program committee and gave an educational lecture and an oral talk, while our research fellows Sergey A. Tsysar and Petr V. Yuldashev presented their latest results in oral talks.

LIMU alumni Shamil Asfandiyarov successfully defended his PhD thesis

On June 10th, 2025, at the Physics Faculty, MSU, a LIMU alumni Shamil Asfandiyarov successfully defended his PhD dissertation “The use of 2D phased arrays for ultrasonic imaging and physical impact on objects in heterogeneous medium”. The work was carried out under the supervision of Oleg A. Sapozhnikov, D.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics. Congratulations to Shamil and his supervisor!

LIMU at the school-seminar “Waves–2025”

From June 1 to 6, 2025, the XXXVI All-Russian school-seminar "Waves 2025" was held. Students, postgraduates and research fellows of the LIMU laboratory presented 5 talks in two sections: "Acoustics of inhomogeneous media" and "Bio- and medical applications of wave physics". LIMU postgraduate student Lyubov Kotelnikova was awarded a diploma for the best presentation at the conference.

LIMU at the International Youth Science Forum “Lomonosov-2025”

On April 15, 2025, the "Physics" section of the International Scientific Conference for Students, Postgraduates and Young Scientists "Lomonosov-2025" was opened at the Physics Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University with a lecture by our researcher Maria Karzova. Additionally, LIMU second- and third-year undergraduates presented their reports in the "Acoustics" and "Medical Physics" subsections.

Our research on acoustic radiation force measurements has been published in the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America (Q1)

Our paper «Method for measuring acoustic radiation force of a focused ultrasound beam acting on an elastic sphere» has been published in the top-rated journal The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America (Q1, IF 2.1). In this paper, a method for measuring the acoustic radiation force acting on a solid spherical scatterer in liquid is proposed and experimentally realized.

LIMU at the “Medical Neurotechnologies” LiFT-2025 Young Scientists School

On April 17-18 2025, the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University hosted the "Medical Neurotechnologies" LiFT-2025 Young Scientists School, where LIMU research fellow Alisa Krokhmal presented the results of a joint study by LIMU and the V.S. Buzaev International Medical Center. The study introduces a new method to improve skull ultrasound conductivity using bisphosphonate therapy, enabling successful thermal ablation procedures even with initially low skull density ratio (SDR) values.
