In September 2016 researcher Sergey Tsysar and PhD students of LIMU Anastasiya Nikolaeva and Elena Annenkova participated in International Ultrasonic Symposium (IUS2016). Anastasiya presented a poster about radiation force of the quasi-Gaussian beam incident on the elastic scatterer. Sergey gave a talk about transcranial ultrasonic imaging. Elena gave an oral presentation about modelling nonlinear processes inside a liquid drop of acoustic fountain. She became one of the student paper competition finalists.

In August 2016 LIMU Heads Vera Khokhlova and Oleg Sapozhnikov presented lectures at the 5th International Symposium on Focused Ultrasound (FUSF16). The Symposium was devoted to leading edge preclinical, translational, and clinical research related to one of today's most promising and innovative therapeutic ultrasound technologies. LIMU researchers received awards in the contest of Moscow State University Development Program 2016. M.M. Karzova, O.A. Sapozhnikov, V.A. Khokhlova and P.V. Yuldashev received 1st degree awards for achievements in scientific research and S.A. Tsisar - for achievements in teaching.

LIMU researchers L.R. Gavrilov, V.A. Khokhlova, and O.A. Sapozhnikov received a patent for the invention "Method and apparatus for noninvasive localized destruction of tissue". The invention was recognized as a "Patent of the Week" according to Rospatent. Patent description was also published on the MSU website and in the newspaper «Troitsky Variant».

Students of LIMU Julia Andriakhina and Dmitriy Sukhoruchkin received student internships for summer 2016 from Focused Ultrasound Foundation! Congratulations!

Congratulations to research fellow of LIMU Maria Karzova with the three year scholarship of the President of Russia. The stipend supports young scientists performing research and development in priority areas of modernization of the Russian economy.

Student of our Laboratory Marina Terzi received the 3rd degree award at the competition of the final qualifying works of bachelors of the Physics Faculty of Moscow State University (2016). Marina's work is devoted to theoretical and experimental study of a special type of wave beams - vortex ultrasonic beams. Our congratulations to Marina with another success!

In June 2016 LIMU team has participated in XV Russian school-seminar «Wave phenomena in heterogeneous media» named after Professor Anatoliy Sukhorukov. Staff members and students of LIMU gave oral presentations and took an active part in work of school.

Students of LIMU Marina Terzi, Dima Sukhoruchkin, Katya Ponomarchuk, and Nastya Bobina gave talks at the conference «Lomonosov 2016». Marina Terzi talked about vortex acoustic beams. Dima Sukhoruchkin showed a model of virtual ultrasound scaner. Katya Ponomarchuk presented morphological analysis of histotripsy lesions in biological tissues. Nastya Bobina demonstrated how to use CT-images for nonlinear modeling of focused ultrasound beams propagating through inhomogeneous human tissues.
