The “BASIS” foundation, established in 2016 to support fundamental physics and mathematics in Russia, annually holds a scholarship competition for senior students of the Physics Faculty of Moscow State University.
This year, among the competition winners were our Specialist program students Maria Sergeeva (6th year), Liliya Papikyan (5th year) and Andrey Samatov (4th year).
The foundation Expert Council supported the students’ research projects in their scientific fields:
• Maria numerically calculates the parametric effects in nonlinear acoustic beams for biomedical applications (under the supervision of Vera A. Khokhlova and Anastasia V. Kvashennikova).

• Liliya studies the new possibilities of shock-wave effects with high-frequency focused ultrasound on human subcutaneous tissues (under the supervision of Vera A. Khokhlova).
• Andrey conducts research in the field of acoustic holography in liquids and gases under variable temperature conditions (under the supervision of Oleg A. Sapozhnikov and Sergey A. Tsysar).

Congratulations to our young scientists on winning the competition and best wishes in their future studies!
