LIMU at the Acoustical Society of America Meeting ASA-2025

From December 1–5, 2025, the 189th Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) joint with the Acoustical Society of Japan was held in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.

The Meeting program brought together 1600 international participants, including 600 students, within 70 special sessions covering a broad range of topics: from theoretical studies of acoustic fields and mathematical modeling to speech and animal acoustics, from the study of noise and vibrations to biomedical applications of acoustic waves, and more.

The LIMU team traditionally participated in the Meeting and presented four oral talks, three of which were invited papers:

Vera A. Khokhlova presented an invited paper co-authored with Fedor A. Nartov on developing a patient-specific approach for real-time aberration correction in therapeutic ultrasound of abdominal organs.

Vera A. Khokhlova also participated as an invited speaker presenting the work co-authored with Anastasia V. Kvashennikova and Maria S. Sergeeva and colleagues from the University of Texas at Austin on comparative analysis of various time-domain computational approaches for modelling nonlinear acoustic waves with shocks.

• An invited overview talk was presented from Ekaterina M. Ponomarchuk on the latest research on the elastic and structural properties of biological tissues that influence their susceptibility to mechanical fractionation with boiling histotripsy and the required dose.

• In collaboration with Oleg A. Sapozhnikov and Pavel B. Rosnitskiy, the latest results were presented on prostate ablation treatment planning using high intensity focused ultrasound-based elasticity mapping.
