LIMU Participates in "Scientists in Schools" Project

LIMU research fellow, Ph.D., Anastasia Lapina delivered a lecture "Applications of Ultrasound in Diagnostics, Therapy, and Surgery" for 9th-grade school students of Moscow School No. 1002 as part of the "Scientists in Schools" project of the International NAUKA 0+ Festival.

During the lecture for 400 school students, A.V. Lapina spoke about modern methods of using ultrasound in medicine. The students learned about the physical principles of ultrasound diagnostic systems, discovered the possibilities of ultrasound therapy, and explored the prospects of using high-intensity focused ultrasound in surgery as the surgery of the future.

Special attention was paid to the practical application of fundamental knowledge – how physical laws and principles find direct application in medical practice, aiding in diagnostics and treatment of diseases.

The students showed keen interest in the topic, asking numerous questions about the practical use of ultrasound, its potential future applications, and inquired about career paths in science. During the lively discussion, the most inquisitive participants received memorable prizes from LIMU and the NAUKA 0+ Festival.

The "Scientists in Schools" project aims to popularize science among schoolchildren, shape a modern image of scientists, and strengthen ties between scientific organizations and educational institutions.

The All-Russian Science Festival NAUKA 0+ is one of the largest science communication projects in Russia. In 2025, the festival celebrated its 20th anniversary.

We thank the School No. 1002 and its students for their active interest and hope that this meeting will become the first step into the world of science for some of the schoolchildren!
