On 29^th of May 2018, the opening ceremony of the XVI School-Seminar named after academician L.M. Brekhovskih "Acoustics of the Ocean" combined with the XXXI session of the Russian Acoustic Society was held in the conference hall of the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology. During the ceremony, the medals named after L.M. Brekhovskih were awarded to young scientists. This year, the awarding of prizes was timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Leonid Maksimovich Brekhovskikh, an outstanding scientist in the field of ocean acoustics, who owns the discovery of an underwater sound channel. One of the two laureates awarded the prize for 2018 was researcher of LIMU Maria Karzova. Congratulations to Maria on awarding the L.M. Brekhovskih medal and wish further scientific success!
