"University Saturdays" at the Faculty of Physics

Within the framework of the project of the Department of Education of Moscow "University Saturdays" O.A. Sapozhnikov delivered a lecture "Acoustics in Medicine" for schoolchildren of 8–11 grades. The event was held on November 25, 2017 at the Physics Faculty of Moscow State University. The lecture was attended by about 200 students of Moscow schools. Many came with their parents or teachers. At the lecture, the children learned about the main applications of ultrasound in modern medicine. The lecture was accompanied by a demonstration of the phenomenon of the acoustic fountain, caused by a focused ultrasound beam. After the lecture, those interested could see the fountain in more detail, get acquainted with how the ultrasound scanner works, and also talk with the lecturer. You can see the video of the lecture here. Educational project "University Saturdays" started in the capital in 2013. Its goal is to enable interested students, teachers and parents with children to get more acquainted with the achievements of modern science "directly from the source". The peculiarity of the project is its public nature. Any student can attend lectures, master classes, and excursions. The project activities are free for all comers, they only need to register on the "University Saturdays" website. MSU has been participating in the project since its start.
