2-nd All-Russian Acoustical Conference in Nizhny Novgorod

The II All-Russian Acoustic Conference combined with the XXX session of the Russian Acoustical Society was held from June 6 to 9, 2017 in Nizhny Novgorod. The conference was attended by about 300 researchers. The venue was the Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IAP RAS), which marked its 40th anniversary. The conference covered a huge range of different topics: from ocean acoustics and aeroacoustics to speech acoustics and optoacoustics. The most numerous sections were "Nonlinear acoustics", "Physical acoustics", "Geoacoustics" and "Acoustics of the ocean". At the same time, the most "young" (mostly students and PhD students) became the section "Biomedical Applications of Acoustic Methods."

A delegation of students, PhD students and research fellows attended the conference from LIMU lab. Yuldashev P., Krit T., Nikolaeva A., and Annenkova E. made presentations in the section "Nonlinear acoustics", M. Terzi represented the laboratory in the section "Physical acoustics". Section "Biomedical Applications of Acoustic Methods" was represented by Cherepanova Zh., Sukhoruchkin D., Andriyahina Yu., Khasanova M., Polyansky A. and Rosnitsky P..  Dorofeeva A. and Mezrokhin I. made presentations in the section "Wave propagation and diffraction".

Sapozhnikov O.A. gave a plenary talk on the possibilities of visualization, fragmentation and manipulation of kidney stones. The topic was interesting to listeners. During the plenary sessions also there were reports on the possibilities of terahertz optoacoustics (Egerev S.V.), new hydroacoustic transducers (Zhukov V.B.) and modeling of sound propagation in natural media (Kulichkov S.N.).

Within the framework of the conference the research fellow Yuldashev P. was awarded a medal as the winner of the Brekhovskikh Prize for young scientists 2016. Congratulations to Peter! Also there was a competition of scientific reports among the students, PhD students and young scientists until the age of 30. Among the 20 winners were representatives of LIMU: PhD students Nikolaev A., Rosnitsky P. and students Dorofeeva A., Mezdrokhin I. and Polyansky A.

With the scientific program the organizers held several informal events: the intellectual game "KvizPlyz", a banquet, an excursion to the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, a visit to the laboratories of the IAP RAS and scientific workshops for young people.
