The Foundation for Development of Theoretical Physics and Mathematics "BASIS" announced scholarships for PhD and Master students of Physics Faculty of the Moscow State University. Congratulations to LIMU PhD student Alisa Krokhmal and M.S. students Yuliya Andriyakhina, Ekaterina Ponomarchuk, and Anastasia Bobina with receiving scholarships of the Foundation!
In the fall semester, the laboratory of LIMU prepared and conducted a special course "Acoustic technologies in diagnostics, therapy, and surgery" with laboratory training for the tenth-grade of the Lyceum "Vtoraya Shkola".
In the fall of 2018, three major international conferences on acoustics and therapeutic ultrasound were organized: International Ultrasound Symposium (IUS, Kobe, Japan), 6th International Focused Ultrasound Symposium (FUSF, Reston, USA), and the 176th Meeting of the Acoustic Society of America, combined with the Week of Acoustics in Canada (ASA, Victoria, Canada). Seventeen talks co-authored with LIMU staff were presented.
Since September of this year, a massive open online course (MOOC) on therapeutic ultrasound has become available. Within the framework of this course, O.A. Sapozhnikov gave a lecture on the principles of generation and focusing of ultrasound. The lecture is now available both on the MOOC website and in the "Lectures" section of our website.
On Saturday, July 28, 2018, a group of talented students from the summer camp "Lanat" visited the Laboratory of Medical and Industrial Ultrasound. The visitors were hosted by the LIMU members Sergei Tsysar, Pavel Rosnitskiy, and Julia Andriakhina.
Scientific project of LIMU research fellow Petr Yuldashev was supported by Russian Science Foundation. Petr's project is devoted to propagation of sonic boom in realistic atmosphere.
