LIMU member Anastasia Kvashennikova successfully defended her PhD thesis!

On December 23rd, 2024, at the Physics Faculty, MSU, a LIMU member Anastasia Kvashennikova successfully defended her PhD dissertation “Numerical modeling of difference-frequency wave generation in three-dimensional ultrasound beams at strong manifestation of the nonlinearity of the medium”.

The work in the field of nonlinear acoustics and numerical modeling for describing nonlinear and diffraction effects in the wave fields, was carried out under the supervision of Petr V. Yuldashev, Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics, and Vera A. Khokhlova, D.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics, in collaboration with professor Igor B. Esipov, D.Sc. (Gubkin State University of Oil and Gas, Moscow).

Two opponents of the dissertation spoke in person at the defense: D.Sc. Tatyana K. Kozubskaya (Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics RAS, Moscow) and Ph.D. Oleg A. Savitsky (Andreyev Acoustics Institute, Moscow). The third opponent of the dissertation, D.Sc. Pavel S. Petrov (V.I. Il'ichev Pacific Oceanological Institute FEB RAS, Vladivostok) participated online.

As a result of the defense, Anastasia was awarded a Ph.D. degree in Physics and Mathematics in the specialty 1.3.7 “Acoustics”!

The details of the work can be found in the dissertation abstract and the dissertation text.

Congratulations to Anastasia and her supervisors on the successful defense, and to Petr V. Yuldashev on his debut as a supervisor!
