In the fall semester, the laboratory of LIMU prepared and conducted a special course with laboratory training "Acoustic technologies in diagnostics, therapy, and surgery" for the tenth-grade students of the Lyceum "Vtoraya Shkola". The students were told about acoustic waves, which types of waves are used for diagnosis and treatments, they were introduced to the history and current problems of medical applications of ultrasound. During laboratory classes, schoolchildren measured the speed of sound in water and solid plates, analyzed the spectra of various acoustic signals, got acquainted with optical microscopy methods to analyze the damage caused by high-power focused ultrasound in biological tissues.
